Preparation Guidelines for Tarmac Restorer BLACK
If Algae or Green Growth is present, a pre-treatment with Green CLEAR is advised.
Before any application of the Tarmac Restorer BLACK, ensure the surface is thoroughly cleaned and loose stones are swept away.
Clean the tarmac by jet washing with reduced pressure to avoid damage to the surface.
Carry out any tarmac repairs that may be required use Crack Repair Compound for holes and cracks. Cold Lay Repair for larger potholes.
Application Guidelines for Tarmac Restorer BLACK
Apply Tarmac Restorer BLACK to a clean, dry tarmac surface with temperatures above 12 degrees with no rain is forecast for at least 3 hours after the application of the Tarmac Restorer BLACK has finished.
For best results, it is advisable to use a long-handled Roller Set with a medium pile head. A soft broom or tarmac paintbrush can be used for borders or hard to get to areas, but generally, a Roller Set is best.
Two coats of Tarmac Restorer BLACK are recommended. Average coverage ratios are 40-60sq.* metres per 20 Litre drum (60 sq. metres if the tarmac is in good condition but has lost colour and faded over time; 40 sq. metres for poorer quality tarmac surfaces).
Prior to commencing application, thoroughly shake the container. This will ensure the pigment and the slip-enhancing additive within the product are mixed thoroughly and not settled at the bottom of the container.
Leave 2-4 hours between coats and shake the container each time before pouring into tray or roller.
Areas adjacent to neighbours driveways, flower beds or lawns should be masked off to avoid unwanted coverage.
After application, keep vehicles off for 24 hours and foot traffic for 2-4 hours.
Maintenance Guidelines for Tarmac Restorer BLACK
Any ongoing maintenance should be restricted to a gentle sweep and a washdown once or twice a year.
The Tarmac Restorer BLACK itself is a very durable product, but as with any other external product, it will require re-application from time to time. For Tarmac Driveways that receive an average amount of traffic, a top-up coat of Tarmac Restorer BLACK is recommended, on average, every 5 years.
For Tarmac Driveways that are more heavily trafficked or are in very shady, damp conditions, more frequent top-up coats may be necessary.
Q: Dear Sir I laid a base of planings that has served me very well, a have now bought another 20t of crushed planings. I have sifted it to a fine material and covered the original, I have raked and rolled , and it looks pretty good. Would your product be of benefit if I painted it on, would it stabilise it? regards, Peter Allen
A: Tarmaseal will help to some degree in binding loose particles together but it is not generally used for this purpose. The tarmac rstorer may help with what you are trying to achieve but we would suggest trying a sample to test first.
Q: Is it worth applying a clear sealer over the Tarmaseal and if so what would you recommend?
A: There is no need to apply a sealer of any type over the tarmac restorer as its a very durable acrylic coating in itself.
Q: Our postman walked on the sealer before it had completely dried and left marks on some Indian Stone slabs. What is the best way to remove the marks. Thank you
A: Unfortunately, Tarmaseal is not easy to remove from any surface once it dries. We would suggest using hot water from a kettle and some detergent plus scrubbing vigourously with a scourer. You may need to do this more than once to remove the tarmac restorer from the stone slabs.

An excellent product. It brought my tarmac drive back to life! It now looks like I've had a new tarmac drive laid. Would fully recommend it.
This is good stuff the only downside is once opened it has a certain use by date. I had the sample in my shed from last year and I thought this will do one paving slab but it came out the bottle like curdled milk.. so I decided to use all of the gallon I had bought recently. I have a large Indian sandstone patio so I did all of it but decided once the coat of sealer had dried to give another generous coat.. I wrongly supposed more would be best and used the whole gallon. When I had finished it looked really nice when product had dried next morning after it had rained overnight my wife shouted me to go down and look. The whole bit I had done previous day was all covered in white streaks it looked like the product had been splashed on everywhere and looked a right mess I straight away used my marcher pressure washer to wash it all off. It took some doing but got all the white staining off eventually.. end result once it had dried it still had the colour enhancer on and looks as it did the day before. It does not say on the container that putting too many coats on will result in this happening but the info is on smartseal web site regarding this. So two things to remember. If you buy it then use within a few weeks to avoid it going off and if you are happy with how the first coat looks then I wouldnt apply a second coat unless you apply it very sparingly so I would still give the product 5 stars as it does make the Indian sandstone look like new again but more is not always better.
This is an excellent product and very easy to use i just painted the sealer on my tarmac with a wide brush. We have moved in to an older bungalow with a tarmac drive and used this to smarten up the outside. It looks great and I may top it up but don't need to at this stage as one coat was enough
